Wedding Cars: An Essential Highlight of Your Big Day

Dear soon-to-be newlyweds, have you started preparing for the most important day of your life? In the hectic wedding preparation process, choosing a wedding car might be overlooked, but it is an essential part of the entire wedding.
Imagine arriving at the wedding venue in a luxurious car, with all eyes on you—that feeling must be amazing!

Recommended Trusted Wedding Car Rental Companies

Good Car Rentals: Your Professional and Reliable Choice

Good Car Rentals is a well-known car rental company in Taiwan with extensive experience in wedding car rentals. They offer a variety of luxury car models to meet different couples' needs.
The advantage of Good Car Rentals lies in their professional service team. Every driver undergoes rigorous training, not only possessing excellent driving skills but also being familiar with wedding procedures to provide thoughtful and considerate service to couples. Many customers have reported that Good Car Rentals' drivers are always punctual and maintain a professional and friendly attitude throughout the process.

How to Get Discounted Prices?

Want to rent a good car without spending a fortune? Don't worry, we have some tips to help you save money:

  • Early booking is crucial: The earlier you book, the more discounts you can get. Many rental companies offer special discounts for customers who book 3-6 months in advance.
  • Off-season booking is more affordable: If your wedding date is flexible, consider choosing a non-traditional wedding season. Typically, November to March is the off-season for car rentals, and prices can be 20-30% cheaper than in peak seasons.
  • Packages are more cost-effective: Many car rental companies offer wedding packages that include wedding cars, flower cars, and pick-up cars. Choosing a package is usually more cost-effective than renting a car separately.
  • Keep an eye on promotions: Regularly check the car rental company's official website or social media as they often launch limited-time promotions.
  • Ask about newlywed discounts: Some car rental companies offer special discounts for newlyweds. Don't be shy, asking might bring unexpected surprises!

Remember, while price is important, don't choose an unreliable company just to save money. After all, a wedding is a major event, and quality service ensures your big day goes smoothly.

How to Choose a Highly Rated Wedding Car Rental Company?

Here are some practical tips to help you find the most suitable wedding car rental company:

  • Online reviews are important: Check user reviews on platforms like Google Reviews, Facebook pages, and wedding forums. Be sure to read detailed reviews, not just star ratings.
  • On-site inspection for peace of mind: If possible, visit the rental company in person. Observe their office environment, vehicle conditions, and interact with the staff to get a direct impression.
  • Ask for recommendations from friends and family: If you have friends who recently got married, ask about their rental experience. Real user experiences are often the most valuable reference.
  • Pay attention to service details: A quality rental company not only provides good cars but also excels in service. See if they respond promptly to your inquiries and provide detailed service explanations.
  • Compare multiple companies: Don't rush to make a decision; compare the services and prices of several companies. This way, you can find the best option for yourself.
  • Check company credentials: Ensure the rental company has a valid business license and that their vehicles have proper insurance. This is crucial for your rights and protection.

Essential Elements for the Perfect Wedding Car

Want to create an unforgettable wedding car experience? These elements are absolutely essential:

  • Luxury models: Choose high-end models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, or Rolls-Royce. A luxurious appearance not only adds to the elegance of the wedding, but the spacious and comfortable interior allows the couple to relax.
  • Professional driver: An experienced, well-dressed professional driver can significantly enhance the overall experience. They should have excellent driving skills, be familiar with wedding procedures, and be able to assist when needed.
  • Exquisite car decorations: Beautiful car decorations can make the wedding car more eye-catching. Common decorations include flowers, ribbons, and balloons. Some companies even offer personalized decoration services, incorporating the couple's names or wedding theme elements.
  • Red carpet service: Rolling out a red carpet when arriving at the wedding venue adds a ceremonial touch and protects the bride's dress from getting dirty.
  • In-car drinks and snacks: It's thoughtful to prepare some champagne, mineral water, and snacks for the journey, as long travels can be tiring.
  • Sound system: A good sound system allows the couple to enjoy their favorite music in the car, creating a romantic atmosphere.
  • Emergency kit: Prepare a small emergency kit with items like band-aids, safety pins, and wet wipes for any unforeseen needs.

Advantages of Renting a Wedding Car

Choosing to rent a wedding car instead of using your own or a friend's car has many benefits:

  • Elevate the wedding: A luxurious wedding car can instantly elevate the level and atmosphere of the entire wedding. Imagine arriving at the venue in a shiny Mercedes or Rolls-Royce—you'll undoubtedly be the center of attention!
  • Professional time management: Rental company drivers are experienced and familiar with various routes, ensuring you arrive at each location on time. This way, you don't have to worry about traffic jams or getting lost and delaying the wedding schedule.
  • Avoid burdening friends and family: If you ask a friend to drive, they might not be able to fully participate and enjoy the wedding because they need to focus on driving. Renting a car allows all friends and family to have a great time.
  • Photographs look better: Professional wedding cars are not only beautiful on the outside but also have well-designed interiors, making them excellent backdrops for photos. This way, you can capture more beautiful wedding memories.
  • Flexible and varied options: Rental companies offer a wide range of car models and packages, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your preferences and budget.
  • Reduce stress: Wedding planning is already exhausting. Letting a professional rental company handle the transportation can relieve you of a lot of stress.
  • Safety assurance: Rental company vehicles are regularly maintained, and drivers are strictly trained, offering greater safety assurance compared to private cars.

General Road Traffic Regulations

Left-hand Driving

Taiwan follows left-hand driving. If you are from Japan or Hong Kong, make sure to get familiar with the steering wheel and driving direction again.

Right of Way

Speed Limits

The speed limit on highways is 80 to 110 KM/H, and on expressways, it is 60 to 90 KM/H. Follow the speed limit signs. If there are no speed limit signs on regular roads, the default limits are 50 KM/H for general roads, 40 KM/H for slow lanes, and 30 KM/H for urban alleys.

Speeding Fines

According to the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act,

  • General roads: Exceeding the speed limit by more than 10 km/h or driving below the minimum speed will result in a fine of NTD 1,200 to 2,400 and 1 demerit point.
  • Expressways: Exceeding the speed limit by more than 10 km/h or driving below the minimum speed will result in a fine of NTD 3,000 to 6,000 and 2 demerit points.
  • Severe speeding: Exceeding the speed limit by more than 40 km/h will result in a fine of NTD 6,000 to 36,000, immediate driving ban, and 3 demerit points.

Drunk Driving Fines

  • A breath alcohol concentration of 0.15 mg/L or blood alcohol concentration of 0.03% is considered drunk driving and will result in a fine of NTD 30,000 to 120,000.
  • A breath alcohol concentration of 0.25 mg/L or blood alcohol concentration of 0.05% violates criminal law and will result in a fine of over NTD 300,000 and up to 3 years of imprisonment.

Mobile Phone Usage Ban

Using a mobile phone, computer, or other device to make calls, data communication, etc., while driving will result in a fine of NTD 3,000.
Note that you cannot use your phone while waiting at a red light either!

Lane Markings

Yellow lane lines: Used to separate traffic directions.

  • Broken lines: You can cross to the opposite lane when it does not affect the traffic.
  • Double solid yellow lines: No crossing or U-turns allowed.
  • Solid and broken lines together: No overtaking, crossing, or U-turns on the solid line side, allowed on the broken line side.

White lane lines: Used to separate same-direction lanes and identify safe driving distances.

  • Broken lines: Lane changes or crossing is allowed.
  • Double solid white lines: No lane changes or crossing allowed.
  • Solid and broken lines together: No lane changes on the solid line side, allowed on the broken line side.

Street Parking Rules

  • Red line: No parking at any time. Parking is also prohibited within 10 meters of intersections and bus stops, and within 5 meters of fire truck entrances.
  • Yellow line: Temporary parking (no more than 3 minutes) is allowed during the day, and parking is allowed at night (usually from 8 PM to 7 AM). Yellow lines are often accompanied by signs.
  • White line: 10 cm white line means no parking. 15 cm white line allows parking. If the roadside has a 10 cm white line, parking will occupy the slow lane and is considered a violation.

Horn Regulations

Horn usage is regulated as "single beep, no more than 3 consecutive times," and each beep should not exceed 0.5 seconds. Violating horn usage or exceeding the volume limit will result in a fine of NTD 300 to 600.

Speed Cameras

Taiwan's average speed cameras calculate the "average speed over a section" unlike traditional fixed-point speed cameras. You need to maintain the speed limit within the section to avoid fines.

Highway Traffic Regulations

ETC

Most highways are toll roads. It is recommended to choose vehicles equipped with the electronic toll collection system eTag for convenient toll payment. Fees will be settled when returning the vehicle.

Speeding Fines

  • Expressways: Exceeding the speed limit by over 10 km/h or driving below the minimum speed limit will result in a fine of NT$3,000 to NT$6,000 and 2 penalty points.
  • Severe Speeding: Exceeding the speed limit by over 40 km/h will result in a fine of NT$6,000 to NT$36,000 and immediate suspension of driving, with 3 penalty points recorded.

Overtaking Lane Regulations

The far left lane is the overtaking lane, primarily used for passing vehicles at the highest speed limit. After overtaking, return to the original lane. Do not occupy the overtaking lane for an extended period to avoid traffic congestion.

Shoulder Regulations

The far right lane is the shoulder. During traffic jams, it may be opened to relieve traffic flow at certain times and under certain conditions. A green circle marking indicates the shoulder is open, while a red cross indicates it is closed. When drivers see the sign "No lane change ahead shoulder driving prohibited," they should return to the main lane unless exiting at the next interchange, to avoid penalties. Violating the shoulder regulations results in a fine of NT$4,000 to NT$6,000.

High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Regulations

Some highway sections implement high occupancy vehicle (HOV) control during peak periods, requiring at least 3 people in the vehicle, including the driver and children, to use the lane.

Traffic Signals

Traffic Lights

In addition to the basic red, yellow, and green lights, there are sometimes arrow signals.
Pay attention to situations where the red light is accompanied by a left/right arrow, allowing only left or right turns.
In other scenarios with a green light, you can go straight or turn left/right.

Flashing Red and Yellow Lights: Indicating Main and Secondary Roads

Flashing Red Light: Indicates a secondary road. You must stop at the intersection and yield to traffic from both sides before proceeding.
Flashing Yellow Light: Indicates a main road. You have the right of way but should be cautious of oncoming traffic.

Common Road Signs

Common Violations

  • Right Turn on Red: Right turns are not allowed on a red light unless there is a right turn arrow.
  • Speeding: As mentioned previously, speeding violations result in fines and penalty points.
  • No Left Turn: No left turns or U-turns are allowed as a U-turn involves two left turns.
  • No U-Turn: Left turns are allowed, but U-turns are not, as making a left turn once is not equivalent to a U-turn.
